About

I am an engineer by trade, but at age 30 I decided the corporate life was not for me. I would much rather be spending time with my dog Archer than sitting behind a desk all day. I spent the next couple of years trying to decide where to go next. In my search for what to do with my life, I found that I was most at peace hanging around in nature with Archer. I’ve always loved the idea of being self sufficient and as an introvert I enjoy my solitude. I have been around farms my whole life through my relatives, grown small gardens in our yard as a kid, canned some vegetables, but never really lived the full homestead life. All the signs pointed to a building a homestead for us to enjoy our best lives and learning a lot of really cool stuff along the way. In 2018, we purchased a beautiful 20-acre property to begin our journey. Three years later at the age of 35 I retired from my corporate job to focus full-time on the homestead.

The homestead is a place to enjoy, learn about, and live as one with nature. We hope to accomplish this by being as off-grid as possible. We will grow all of our vegetables, raise our own livestock, use solar power for electricity, wood fireplaces for heating, have a septic system installed, and a well tapped for water. When the homestead is fully functioning, I hope that it can become a resource for others interested in this lifestyle!
